Get a Better Perspective of Downtime with 1-minute Website Monitoring

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

Author: Arun

We have added a new feature into Site24×7 due to popular demand. You can now get Site24×7 to monitor your web sites every minute or every 60 seconds.

Website Monitoring every minute

This feature is available for all accounts - Standard, Premium and Evaluation.

How can one-minute monitoring help you?

If you monitor your websites every minute, there is a real good chance that you get to know when the downtime starts and when it ends.  You get instant notifications whenever any downtime is detected and also when the site comes back up.  If your website is checked every 60 seconds, you are much more likely to catch any downtime than any other monitoring resolution.  With 1-minute monitoring, you get more accurate uptime stats as well as a better perspective of your site’s downtime.

We believe this feature will come in handy for our users. Do give it a try and let us know your feedback.

Site24×7 update: Multi-location website monitoring, new user packages, etc

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

We rolled out some important features in Site24×7 a couple of days ago. Here are a few highlights of this update:

More Monitoring Locations

We have added four new monitoring locations to go with the existing two locations. That makes it six monitoring locations in total - California, Houston, New Jersey, Netherlands, UK and Singapore.

Website Uptime checked from different locations

By monitoring website uptime from these different geographical locations, you can be doubly sure that your sites are accessible from all parts of the world. We also have plans to add more locations to our monitoring network in the near future.

New user packages

We have introduced 2 new user packages - Standard and Premium accounts. The Standard account retains the same features of our Professional account and is suited for small businesses. The Premium account has all the features of Standard account plus the ability to monitor website uptime from multiple secondary monitoring locations which are geographically separate. This makes the Premium account an ideal fit for small & medium businesses wanting to make sure their web sites are up and accessible from different parts of the world.

Read more about our user packages.

Other enhancements in this update include an enhanced reports section, a ‘Test SMS’ option which enables you to send test sms messages to your mobile from Site24×7, enhancements to the web application monitor section, an improved ‘Upgrade’ screen, etc.

Do try out the new features/enhancements in Site24×7 and as always, we will be glad to hear your feedback!

Multi-location Monitoring support in Site24×7

Friday, September 7th, 2007

Author: Arun

We recently introduced multi-location monitoring in Site24×7. Your websites and applications will now be checked from servers in 3 different locations. These checks will come in from California, Boston, and United Kingdom.

The California location is our primary monitoring location and the other two are secondary locations.

Monitoring from multiple locations

The bulk of the monitoring will be done from the California location. When a website test from the California location fails, we recheck the site from UK and Boston locations before reporting it as down/up.

We have plans to provide simultaneous monitoring from these locations soon. And we plan to add more locations to our network as well. Keep watching this space!

Site24×7 Update: More monitor types, etc

We have added a few more goodies to Site24×7 in our latest update. These include all the options mentioned here as well as a few usability enhancements.

One of the new monitor types added is Mail Server Monitor. As the name suggests this monitor will help you monitor your mail servers, both SMTP and POP. It gives you mail server round-trip time (RTT) by sending email to the mail server using SMTP and retrieving it using a POP account.

Mail server monitor

Web Page Analyzer (WPA) is the second monitor type that has come in new. This monitor downloads the full content of your web page and analyzes all its components including images, scripts, css, etc. It provides you a first-hand experience of how your website behaves for your end-users.

Other enhancements include Schedule Maintenance, Import URLs from .txt/.csv/.html files, exporting reports as .csv file and scheduling of daily/weekly reports, etc.

Now to answer the question asked in my previous post, the cool new addition to the reports section is the “Availability History Report”. It shows you uptime graph of your websites broken down by the hour of the day, inside the home tab itself.

What do you think of these latest additions? Do send in your feedback!
